You'll probably find all of your answers here. Except if you ask where to find Animal Chin.
What do I need to do before class?
Before coming to class, read the ENTIRE FAQ page. We recommend that you watch these videos. The playlist is always being updated so it may have changed since your last visit.
How advanced are the classes?
Dynamic Pistol and Dynamic Carbine are what we would call intermediate level classes. Having a basic class or two from another instructor wouldn't be a bad idea. Day 3 Pistol & Carbine are advanced, but they are a direct continuation of the Dynamic Classes. It is perfectly fine to sign up for all three. Vehicle Dynamics is also an intermediate level class, with Day 3 Vehicle being more advanced.
What is the cancellation policy?
Booking a class at Tremis Dynamics is a commitment to train on your given course date. The tuition sale is final. We do not offer refunds to students who cancel or fail to show up for class. We do offer a refund or credit in the unlikely event that Tremis Dynamics finds it necessary to cancel a class. This policy is firm and there will be no exceptions. Official Refund Policy
What class Should I take?
Dynamic Pistol and Dynamic Carbine are our core classes. Everybody can start with those. We even have Day 0 classes for folks who are a bit timid for them. If you are looking at how we recommend the order that classes be taken in, we made this nifty flowchart as a guide.
Can I make a deposit to reserve my slot?
We have done that in years prior and it was often a disaster. We now offer split payments through Affirm and that's the way we are handling payments.
The store says “SOLD OUT” Is there a waiting list?
Class sizes are kept small, on purpose. They fill up, and they fill up quickly. Once in a while, a student cancels or fails to pay off his deposit and his slot opens up. If you would like to be put on the waitlist, just send an email to info@TremisDynamics.com with the class name and date in the body. We will backfill any cancellations first come, first serve.
Do you offer a Layaway?
We have done that in years prior and it was often a disaster. We now offer split payments through Affirm and that's the way we are handling payments.
Can I record video/audio or take photos?
There is a strict NO MEDIA policy. Unless an instructor directs you to take any photos or video, NONE will be allowed. This pertains to still photos, video and audio. Failure to follow this will result in removal from class with no refund. Gun-Media organizations are welcome to CONTACT US and we can work something out.
Can I just watch a class?
We often get asked if somebody can come and just watch. If you are an alumni of the class being taught, you must contact us before you show up. If you have not taken the class in question, then you must take it first. A spectator is still the responsibility of the instructor and frankly it's easier if you are on the shooting line.
Can I host you?
Of course! Just send an email and ask for a host packet. We basically need a safe place to shoot, a minimum number of students and reasonable facilities (portajohn, not needing 4WD to reach the range, etc)
Why no certificates?
They are a distraction. The goal of the student is not to get a piece of paper for his “I-love-me” wall, it is to learn. Your certificate is the notebook full of notes that you wrote.
However, starting in 2024, we are sending digitally signed PDF certificates the week after class! You can print and wallpaper your office with them!
Do you accept anything in trade for tuition?
Of course! Obviously, things like Ammo, Gear, guns are seriously entertained, We're also fans of trading services. We're no different than anybody else and have needs for plumbers or roofers or whatever. If you have something you think would make a good trade, just shoot us an email.
Will you teach private classes?
Yeah, We'll do them for alumni, but you'll pay more per student/per day for it. We'd prefer you all just come to an open enrollment class. Or if you are looking for us to come to you for a private class, just host us and we'll work on filling out the rest of the slots. Either way, Shoot us an email at info@tremisdynamics.com and we'll figure out the logistics.
May I Opt-Out of having my photo taken at class?
We can try to accommodate you, but no promises are made. You are likely not special and don't need to have blacked out eyes in your "operator photos."
What type of pistol do I need?
We need you to bring a Fighting Handgun to Dynamic Pistol. 9, 40, 45, 357Sig are acceptable calibers. Preferably Double-stack magazines. Not a pocket-gun. Nothing smaller than a S&W Shield (Sorry no G43). Pistols with external safeties are allowed but will cause you issues.
Smashmouth Pistol it is required to have a striker-fired pistol in the above calibers.
All pistol classes are shot from concealment. A kydex holster with the ability to be concealed is a requirement for any pistol class. No hybrid holsters! No Injection Molded holsters. No leather holsters. No nylon/cloth holsters.
Holsters.
Must.
Be.
Kydex.
Can I use a Serpa?
Leave them at home, better yet, throw them in the garbage. Any holsters that have active retention that is disengaged by the trigger finger are not allowed. If you are a manufacturer and make this type of holster, you are welcome to contact us to take a look at how it works. Just because we haven't seen a holster like this that isn't garbage, doesn't mean you might not design one. We have an open mind and are willing to take a look.
What type of carbine do I need?
Dynamic Carbine requires that you bring a magazine-fed, semi-auto rifle suitable for harsh use. AR pattern, AK pattern, 5.56, 5.54, 7.62x39, 7.62x51, 6.8, 300BO are all fine (that’s not an exclusive list). PISTOL CALIBER carbines as well as rimfires are currently welcome at class.
Do I need to bring a Zero’d Rifle?
Yes! Do you know why they call it a zero? Because that's how much time we are going to spend doing it. There's a tiny block about which zero is best, but we aren't going out to the bench to adjust a gun that should have been squared away before you came to class. If you need hands-on help with zeroing your rifle, come to a Zero Workshop.
What type of ammo should I bring?
Class is not the time to skimp on ammo. We’ve been "that guy" at class with a ton of problems, trust us when we say there is less learning going on when you don't have functioning gear.
Generally speaking, factory brass cased ammunition is the way to go. We've not seen any “factory reloaded” ammo work reliably. We have not seen many reloads from “Uncle Cletus“ perform reliably. Neither are permitted at class. Steel cased ammo is great in AK pattern carbines.
No green tip on steel targets. They wear out the target faster. We cant always vouch for the material of a host ranges steel targets. No AP nor 855A1 as these often perforate steel targets. “Bi-metallic” bullets are fine. All the materials in that alloy are quite soft and do not damage targets nor your bore.
We don't recommend Magtech ammo. Magtech is utter trash. What you should use is Defiant Munitions (TREMIS2024 for 10% off)
In short buy your ammo from Ammo Supply Warehouse! (TREMIS10 for $10 off orders over $100)
What pistol should I buy?
We’d like to tell you that there are a ton of great pistols out there, but there aren't. We recommend 3 brands, with a few models for each. We do have a larger list of “approved” pistols, but these are what are recommended.
Smith and Wesson 9mm
M&P (4.25”) M&Pc (3.5”) M&P2.0 (4.25”) M&P2.0 compact (4”) AKA M&P2.19 M&P2.0 compact (3.6”) Shield Shield 2.0 Shield+
Sig 9mm
P320 P320c P365 P365xl P365X P365MACRO
Glock 9mm (gen3 gen5)
G19 G17 G26 G19X G45 G48 G43X
What Carbine should I buy?
There are so many different model variations from each manufacturer that it would be impossible for me to list them all. There are only a few brands I recommend generally. There are other quality manufacturers but I have some strict requirements to get on this list and often I haven't seen enough unique examples from a company to be able to include them. We think the best rifle for training is the Tremis Dynamics Signature Rifle From Midwest Industries!
AR pattern rifles:
Midwest Industries
LMT
Colt
BCM
SOLGW
AK pattern rifles:
Occam Defense
Arsenal
Rifle Dynamics
Whats the best safety gear to get?
Electronic Earpro from Peltor, Sordin, OpsCore or Howard Leight are highly recommended. Oakley makes the best Eye Protection, hands down.
Any other gear brands I should look into?
Rifle Slings from Blue Force Gear are highly recommended. Holsters from First Wave are preferred. Optics from Trijicon, EO Tech, Aimpoint, and Primary Arms have all performed well in class. Pistol sights from XS Sights are never wrong. Chest rigs from UW Gear are the Rolls Royce of Load Carriage. Pmags are awesome!
